welcome to the mcyt archive! this is a non-profit, fanmade project dedicated to preserving and archiving minecraft youtube content.
mcyt got its start all the way back in 2009, the first video uploaded on may 17th by the channel jwaap. since then, the community has only gotten bigger, with millions of fans and creators worldwide, along with minecraft content as a whole on the platform surpassing 1,000,000,000,000 (yes, one trillion!) views in late 2021. you can see a little more about that in this nifty infographic by youtube. despite the full name, mcyt has also grown to include videos and streams from the twitch platform.
of course, with such a large community that's been around for 14 years, there is a lot of content that is being lost permanently. this project serves to combat that as much as possible, and preserve content made on both youtube and twitch, as well as other works (such as art, writing, music, and so on) in the community from platforms like twitter, tumblr, and more.
